about
‘These are challenging times for us all as we work through the winter of a pandemic….coming out of the lockdown only to find that most of us are in Tier 3 and, once again, have to put a hold on sharing time together with those we love. As Christmas approaches, we can look forward to a bit of light in the coming weeks when we will be able to hug our loves ones for the first time in some months. In ‘Together’ I have tried to convey the struggles, the sadness, the joy and the hope that we are all experiencing. Once I had written the song, I approached some of my wonderful friends and musicians who are currently unable to perform, to contribute to it. Due to the lockdown, bringing the song to fruition was really challenging. Recording had to be done in living rooms with makeshift facilities. I am particularly grateful to the teachers and pupils of Long Toft Primary School in Doncaster who learned their part and recorded it without any help. The final result is a testament to what can be achieved when we all work ‘Together'. Every penny earned from this song goes directly to supporting the NHS.’
lyrics
Snow is falling, lights are glowing,
My heart’s calling out to those I love.
Winter’s colder as I grow older,
And all I need is those I love.
It won’t be the same this year.
Our loved ones won’t be here.
But there’s a whole new meaning….to being together.
Although I can’t touch your hand,
I think I can understand,
That there’s a whole new meaning…to being together.
The presents underneath the tree are few
But the gift of love is something that we all can do.
It won’t be the same this year.
Our loved ones won’t be here.
But there’s a whole new meaning….to being together.
Although I can’t touch your hand,
I think I can understand,
That there’s a whole new meaning…to being together.
Somehow the firelight isn’t quite so bright.
But I won’t be alone this Christmas night!
It’s alright! (It’s alright!) It’s alright! (It’s alright!)
Cos there’s a whole new meaning…to being together.
It’s so bright (It’s so bright!) ….this Christmas night! (This Christmas night!)
Cos there’s a whole new meaning to being together.
Yes there’s a whole new meaning…to being together.
